During the year, the following music competitions (for all instruments) are held in the Chicago area:

• Geneva Granquist Music Competition, Geneva, IL
• DePaul Concerto Festival For Young Performers, Chicago, IL
• Illinois Music Association State Olympic Contest, Chicago, IL

Participation is optional but students are encouraged to join these competitions.
