
ELIZABETH CHOI

Elizabeth Choi enjoys an extensive and versatile career as a violinist, violist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and educator. A native of Chicago, she has performed throughout the United States and internationally. She shared the stage with distinguished artists including Plácido Domingo, Maxim Vengerov, Rachel Barton, Gil Kalish, Daniel Barenboim, Peter Gabriel, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, Ellen Jewett, Seth Knopp, and Paul Hersh.
As a chamber musician, Elizabeth has won both First and Third Prizes at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She has been a member of International Chamber Artists, Camerata Chicago, Opera Parallèle, and other ensembles. She has been invited to perform with the Olympic Music Festival, Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, Mostly Music Chamber Series, and Pianoforte Salon Series. She is currently a member of Quartet Parapluie, Advent Chamber Orchestra, New Millennium Orchestra, International Chamber Artists, Accessible Contemporary Music, and is co-founder of the Navitas Ensemble.
Elizabeth's orchestral experience includes serving as associate concertmistress of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and concertmistress of the Classical Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Marin Symphony, Golden Gate Opera, and the East-West Divan Workshop conducted by Daniel Barenboim. She has served as guest concertmaster for the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra, and New Millennium Orchestra.
A dedicated educator, Elizabeth has conducted chamber music master classes nationally and internationally and teaches private violin and viola lessons at Maine South High School. She is also a faculty member at the 1st Conservatory of La Grange and the Chicago Center School of Music.
Elizabeth studied violin performance at DePaul University with Mark Zinger and pursued graduate studies in chamber music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Ian Swenson. She has also studied with Mark Sokol. Throughout her career, she has performed at many of Chicago's most prominent venues, including Orchestra Hall, the Lyric Opera House, Ravinia, Pritzker Pavilion, and the Harris Theater, as well as live on WFMT.
